Conveniently situated within the UNESCO World Heritage buffer zone and walking distance from the central business district, Areca Hotel offers families and travellers the opportunity to experience the rich history and vibrant culture that George Town and Penang has to offer. Areca Hotel is named after the Areca Palm (Areca Catechu), also known commonly as the Pinang palm and from which Penang island derives its name.
We offer a variety of rooms ranging from our spacious family suites, cosy garden rooms and luxurious heritage rooms. Modern furnishings provide guests with the comforts of home.

We offer a wide variety of accommodation around the island to cater for families, groups of friends, couples and single travellers. All our rooms are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, hot water, fresh water showers and air conditioning.
Our restaurant serves a wide spread of international and local cuisine. Meals are catered buffet-style three times daily. A barbeque is held in the outdoor pavilion on Saturday nights.
As there are no cooking facilities available in our rooms, guests are politely reminded not to bring any outside food or drink onto the island.
Corkage is chargeable on all alcohol brought to the island.
Rawa Island boasts a hundred per cent coral cover and its house reef is naturally shallow, making it an ideal destination for safe entry diving and sea sport activities for adults and children alike.
Our PADI Five Star Scuba Diving Instructor Development Center has been established in collaboration with Orca Scuba.
Set against the backdrop of breathtaking views overlooking the South China Sea, the Rawa spa offers a variety of body, facial and foot massages catering to a wide range of needs for couples and families alike. All treatments utilize only the finest fresh local ingredients and have been expertly designed to balance mind, body and spirit.
We offer a comprehensive range of sea sport activities, including snorkelling, kayaking, scuba-diving and island hopping. Guests may also enjoy taking a walk around or hiking up to the top of the island, where they will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the surrounding islands and the South China Sea.
Our meeting room facilities offer a suitable venue for corporate retreats, meetings and presentations for up to 70 persons. If team building activities are required, we are able to recommend/ work with third party corporate planners and trainers to develop a tailored program for participants.
